PEAQ-DSC
Used for Differential Scanning Calorimetry

Overview
The MicroCal PEAQ-DSC, from Malvern Panalytical, is the platform's differential scanning calorimeter: two matched tandem capillary cells, each with an available volume of 130 µL, scan from ambient up to a maximum of 130 °C at rates of up to 240 °C per hour. It is available in automated form with an autosampler for cell filling and washing between runs, or in a manual configuration with a cleaning device for hands-on operation.
Key specifications
Cell volume: 130 µL per matched tandem capillary cell
Maximum temperature: 130 °C
Scan rate: up to 240 °C/hour
Operation: automated (autosampler) or manual configuration
Role at PINT
The PEAQ-DSC is the platform's only DSC instrument, and does the confirmatory, full-thermodynamics work described on the method page after nanoDSF has narrowed a formulation or candidate list down — resolving Fab/Fc domain transitions in antibodies, and providing the regulator-recognized comparability data that a fluorescence-only measurement cannot.
